5 ways to make the most of your wedding flower budget

If you're planning your wedding, flowers are a key part of your budget consideration. Here's 5 ways you can make the most of the budget you have for your wedding flowers to ensure they are an impactful, memorable part of your day.

  1. Swap lots of small table arrangements for one bigger statement piece elsewhere. 100 bud vases for your tables might use a similar amount of stems to a small floral archway or ceremony meadow, but the visual impact they make does not compare. An archway makes for an incredible ceremony backdrop which provides impactful photo opportunities that you and your guests will not forget. On the other hand, bud vases on the tables are very cute but can slip into the background in a way that an installation like an archway will not. If your budget allows for both then great, but if it's a choice between the two I would always opt for the installation to create a floral focal point in your day.

  2. We all love a white wedding but colour has a much greater visual impact and draws the eye. Even if you stick to a mostly neutral palette of whites or blushes, a few stems throughout with a pop of brighter colour will make your florals stand out - think hot pinks, warm reds or citrus greens. If you are going with more minimalist arrangements like bud vases, colour will really help them to hold their own rather than blending into the background amongst the rest of your table decor.

  3. Include at least one luxury variety like orchids, anthuriums or premium reflexed roses. A few of these will make a much bigger aesthetic statement in your bridal bouquet than lots of smaller headed blooms and they add levels of interest, structure and texture that will make your bouquet stand out. We always include these types of flowers in our bridal bouquets to achieve our Flossea aesthetic and they are always met with a wow on the morning of delivery! In my own bridal bouquet when I got married, I had all three and they really elevated it to another level - I was stopped by several people asking if the flowers were real!

  4. Plinth arrangements are a great way to elevate floral arrangements, making them more visible and they are easily moved from ceremony to reception. You can add interest by utilising plinths of different heights to draw the eye and create a unique ceremony backdrop.

  5. Ceremony aisle meadows create a much bigger impact than a few stems tied to the end of the chairs and they can be repurposed around the couple's top table at the reception, saving the need for more arrangements there. Don't forget if you are asking your florist to repurpose any arrangements between ceremony and reception, there will be a fee to factor in for the time they need to remain at the venue and labour.

It is important to be realistic with expectations around the cost of wedding floristry, particularly if you are looking for bespoke, luxury & creative floral design for your day, as the costs, time and labour involved for the florist really are very high (have a read of our blog post about the reality of the cost of wedding flowers here!) - but you can plan how to allocate your floral budget to get the most out of it.
